The Ultimate Superhero Movie

As a life long Marvel and DC comics fan and goes without saying ultimately a Batman fan, to me this film is virtually everything that I have ever dreamed of for a Superhero Movie!

Zack Snyder’s Justice League is an absolute masterpiece.

Visually stunning and narratively satisfying from start to finish, it is not just the best DCEU film of all time but also one of the best superhero films of all time. Joss Whedon should have be ashamed of himself for butchering this gem of a movie and ruining the vision that Zack Snyder had in 2017.

Zack Snyder has delivered a perfect superhero film, filled with some of the best visuals ever seen in a comic book movie, eye popping effects, stunning cinematography, amazing soundtrack by Junkie XL and breathtaking action scenes.

This version of The Justice League is everything I had ever hoped for. This film has once again proved that Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill are the quintessential perfect Batman and Superman of all time and not forgetting Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman. Stoked that Jared Leto was personally asked to return and make an appearance by Zack himself as The Joker and quite frankly almost steals the show with yet another take on the ‘Prince of Crime’!

We finally get to witness the true vision of Zack's Steppenwolf character who’s a huge intimidating warrior from another world who wants to conquer and destroy earth for his own personal reasons and yet in a few scenes strangely I almost felt sorry for him. His silver shimmering, spiky almost alive armour is captivating at times and every time he’s on screen you feel like you need to pay attention as which way it’s moving.  If we have Steppenwolf we have to have Darkseid who’s lurking in the shadows and ‘Oh Boy’ what an entrance! The CGI of both Steppenwolf and Darkseid is astounding!

Literally the whole film is kind’a told around the origin story for Cyborg which was the original intention of Zack Snyder and properly restored to it’s full arc and expertly played by Ray Fisher and his struggle to find his place in the world, torn apart between his human and mechanical identity.

In my opinion the best actor to ever grace the silver screen playing Batman, Ben Affleck, returns from his 'spiral into darkness' and becomes a hero again leading the team of Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash honouring Superman after his death defending this world. The vengeful killer version from Batman V Superman is long gone and I’m glad to report there is no ‘cringe’ moments for any of the characters like in the theatrical version.

Wonder Woman, elegantly played yet again by Gal Gadot is helping humanity and continuing her duty to defend the world whilst The Flash is trying to be a hero who wants to help people but still learning how his powers work and played with glee by Ezra Miller but this time we get to see a more serious but still light-heartedness in his approach and last but not least, we’re properly introduced to Jason Momoa’s mighty Aquaman who's also struggling between his human life and his Atlantean heritage as a king, and as was anticipated the 'heart and soul’ of DC... Superman.

In the awesome ‘Man of Steel’ we saw an alien trying to find his place in the World. Again in 'Batman V Superman: The Dawn of Justice’ we saw a conflicted hero grappling with the notion of how to be the hero we all know and love but here the true version of Justice League we witness a true Superman who finally becomes a hero and the 'ultimate protector of earth’. An ideal to strive towards.

Even side characters like Lois, Martha, Silas, Desaad, The Martian Manhunter, YES! we get to see Martian Manhunter and Joker earn small but meaningful parts in the four hour master piece.

This is the movie I'd been waiting for…. a fully developed and truly mature comic book movie that was not approached as a joke or a childish movie with cringe induced jokes, but a film with light hearted and funny bits thrown in every now and then to break the ice in certain situations.

I had already arranged the day off work in anticipation for the release rented Sky Cinema for the month and I was there in front of the TV at 8am in the morning, Yep as i’m here in the UK it was a morning release, refreshing the screen every ten or fifteen minutes waiting for the moment the film became available to watch. I had my feet up on the sofa and a massive cup of steaming hot coffee to sit and savour the moments… It was four hours of pure superhero ‘BLISS’ for me!

And I watched it over and over again… I got four viewings of the film in on the day of release and god knows how many the next few days!

If you don't love and enjoy this movie then I really can’t understand how you can call yourself a true DC fan…. we have everything! Don’t get me wrong it’s not ‘Perfect’ there are a fair few things I would change, but it’s damn near it. We have a perfect Batman who looks and acts just like he’s drawn in the comics. A Superman who’s on his way to being the exact same and from here on in the next few films we would have seen the Superman everyone loves. An amazing and awesome Wonder Woman. An Aquaman that no comic book nerd would have ever thought would be a hulking dude that anyone or everyone would want to be. A Cyborg that maybe doesn't quite look like how he is in the comics, but again just like Superman, he would have become that hero as his arc was continued and lastly a fully fledged Flash who we witnessed access the speed force and manipulate time. Some of us, me being one of them not particularly impressed with his costume, but it fitted the idea that this was version one and he had a bit more to learn and do before he became the FLASH. Lets not forget he’s not even taken the name of The Flash yet… but again it would have all been in the next film or so as this would have been the third film in an arc of five movies.

Unfortunately that was not the case and Warner Brothers yet again listened to the ’nay sayers’ the ones who couldn’t wait to finish the story arc as they wanted everything now… just like a spoiled brat! and WB decided nope we’re not finishing this we need to be the MCU.

But hey… that’s just my own personal opinion!
