Just switch them out!

New actors for comic book superheroes!

As a comic book reader from old who has seen many versions of all the heroes, whether from Marvel or DC I can not understand why both studios aren't replacing the actors when they either become too old for the part or they just want to move on. Surely there are enough actors around, whether they are a well named actor or someone who maybe 'up and coming'!

Let's face it, how many people had really heard of Henry Cavil before he became world renowned for the role of Superman. Yes, here in the UK a lot of us remember him from the Tudors TV show and he wasn't even the lead character... but when he was picked to play Superman, well his profile just exploded, proving my point, that anyone could be picked, from anywhere to play these characters and carry on the mantel!

Yes, I get that the studios wouldn't be able to entice people with the idea that a certain character was going to die, that was obviously the main selling point for Avengers Endgame... the death of Iron Man... but the comics have being doing it for years, enticing readers with the major death of a character and then a few issues down the line 'BANG' they're back... wouldn't that be a great time to switch out the actor?

Think about it, if this had been the case, we'd probably still have Tony Stark as Iron Man to this day if Marvel had just rested the Iron Man character for a few years and then brought him back played by someone else and yeh, they may still do this and to be honest I hope they do rather than replace him with the stupid Iron Heart character... I mean come on, what a cheap rip off! In all reality does Marvel actually think that the fans are going to accept 'Iron Heart' over Iron Man!

In my opinion if they had planned an actor switch and just carried on with the stories, again just like the comics then they probably wouldn't be in the situation they are at the moment. Literally every fan has got bored with the state that Marvel is in and they're loosing fans 'left right and centre'.

Where DC are concerned, they had the prize chance to do this with the new regime of James Gunn and Peter Safran. Rather than shoot themselves in the foot like they have and state that the old DCEU is coming to an end like they have, why or why didn't they keep their mouths shut and just acknowledge that they were going to incorporate a close of one chapter and carry on with another, with the same characters but with all new actors with a new character arc but occasionally referring to the past. It's always worked for James Bond!

Oh how things could have been so different right now... Warner Bros. Discovery could have acknowledged the fact that Henry Cavil and Ben Affleck had come to the end of their tenure as Superman and Batman and included both of them in the first DCU film and then sent them on their way gracefully and all the fans would have been happy to say good bye and then the fans would have been happy enough to accept new actors taking over these iconic characters.

Warner Bros. Discovery could then have had quality press articles written about how admirable they've been towards saying goodbye to the outgoing actors and worthy discussions of who may or may not be taking over the characters, exactly the same as when James Bond is switched out.

No, instead WBD do the dirty on Henry Cavil, treat Ben Affleck like a no body and now they're literally calling Gal Gadot stupid by saying something like "English isn't her first language so has misunderstood the meetings they have had"! Warner Bros. Discovery really is one of the most despicable movie companies out there! We also have everyone in the fandom arguing and pulling each other down, trying to find the latest 'dirt' on anyyone they can find to denounce the people that are making the decisions.

I may not agree with the likes of James Gunn taking over as the co-head of DC Studios, to be honest I'm NOT looking forward to it one bit. I think James Gunn along with Peter Safran will drive the DC brand down further than it has ever gone before! BUT... if they had properly sat down and worked out a way to carry on and accept the stories that had already been told and find a way to move on with new actors without destroying what had come before and properly say goodbye to the outgoing actors I would have been much more accepting of what they have going forward!

David Zaslav has really dragged the good name of Warner Brothers in to the dirt and with how James Gunn and Peter Safran and Warner Bros. Discovery have treated the actors from the original DCEU, how can any actors coming in actually trust WBD in anything they have planned for the future?

But hey... that's just my personal opinion!
