Superhero TRUNKSGATE
Now it's all 'Combat' suits with belts and pouches

From a very early age I was interested in the Superhero genre. Think it all started with watching the 60's Batman TV series when I was maybe 8 or 9 maybe even younger than that and that made me want to watch every live action iteration of a Superhero that was available on the UK TV at the time.
That included Batman and Robin, the 70's Spider-Man featuring Nicholas Hammond (can you believe he was Friedrich von Trapp, one the children from the The Sound of Music!), The Incredible Hulk, starring Bill Bixby as Dr. David Banner and Lou Ferrigno as the Hulk. Never really a Hulk fan, but still had to watch it as it was a Superhero (and no one can forget that theme tune!) and of course no one can forget the 70's Wonder Woman Series staring Lynda Carter and not forgetting Superman in various iterations... right down to the black and white TV series.
I was obsessed with Superheroes growing up and to be honest still are to this day. My comic collection became pretty extensive over the years and still is to this day. Although I don't buy or collect them anymore as they are far too expensive for what they are now and they're no where near as good as they used to be.
I buy the occasional graphic novel or hard back book collection. The last one being just before Christmas of The Young Avengers. Yes, I was watching the Disney+ 'Agatha All Along' series which introduced Wiccan in to the MCU so I wanted to read all the related story lines of Wiccan. Some of the writing is just awful though, but that's another topic for another day.
Have you ever notices how the modern day Superheroes have changed in their appearance... mostly downplayed from wearing anything that even resembles the original Superhero 'Trunks'!
Virtually every Superhero used to wear his 'underwear on the outside' resembling the old depictions of the 'strongman' from a circus or pretty much like the wrestlers of old used to wear... again echoing the 'strongman' image. Remember how 'The Rock' used to wear a pair of black trunks?
For the modern day Superhero it's completely changed direction and now it's all 'Combat' suits with belts and pouches. For the majority of the current Superheroes that's more than fine and is probably more in-line with maybe a 'Black-Ops' unit or something like the 'SAS' so I completely get that.
But with a couple of Superheroes and TWO big hitters come to mind, it just don't work!
First off is Namor from the last 'Wakanda Forever' film... what on earth was going on there!
Namor is not allowed to wear his green scaled 'Trunks' instead he has to wear a pair of green shorts! Which in my opinion makes him look more like a child wearing training pants, rather than the nobal Sub-Mariner of the Marvel Comics.
From my standpoint the character wearing trunks is kind of part of his psyche. He has no concept of human emotions, he's unconcerned and completely indifferent to what anyone else may think of him and in this instant of what he wears. Namor has always had a complete lack of sensitivity or regard for others' needs or troubles. Not to mention the obvious fact that he's constantly under the water and draws his power from the water through his skin, so the more skin he's getting wet the stronger he is!
What is wrong with this world and its stupidness of seeing a man wearing a speedo type of swim wear? Has no one heard of a dance belt or athletic cup that if needs be could be worn to hide any notion of what's behind the cloth.
Olympic divers have no problem wearing a speedo whilst having the sight of their bodies broadcast around the world during the Olympic Games, so why couldn't an actor!
Namor has appeared in quite a few different versions of his costume, including different colours of trunks, so why change him to wearing kiddy shorts? Why oh why didn't Marvel just have him wearing a version of the 'Moisture Suit'.
Chris Hemsworth as Thor seems to have no inhibitions what-so-ever removing his clothes and showing off what he's worked hard for to get the body he needed to play The Mighty Thor! Which highlights another thing concerning Namor on screen... what happened to the body?
Sorry guys but Tenoch Huerta was just a ridiculous choice and yes I know Marvel had to change everything about who Namor was due to 'The Rights' issues, but I'm sure that didn't include not picking an actor who actually had a body like the character from the comics. I'm NOT body shaming at all! What I'm saying is the actor needed to be a guy with a different body type, one that looked not unlike the character from the comics, just like Marvel did for for the Character of Thor!
Why didn't Marvel just use another wrestler like they did for Drax or DC have for Peacemaker?
The latest TRUNKSGATE is the upcoming film of the new Superman Movie with the literal 'Diapers' he's now wearing... gawd he looks awful! The whole costume does!
I genuinely feel so sorry for David Corenswet... it's bad enough he has to step in to the shoes of Henry Cavil, but to then make him look 'frumpy' wearing an 'ill fitting' Superman costume that includes a pair of trunks that looks like a 'filled baby diaper' that's held up with a belt that looks like its way too big for his waist. It's just comical!
But, hey… this is just my own personal opinion!
