It’s not friggin' Rocket Science!

WBD makes a mess of their IP’s when it comes to DC related films

As a Marvel and DC fan from the UK who paid 6p for his first ever comic I think you can guess how long I’ve been a true fan. I’m so tired and frustrated how DC makes such a mess of their IP’s when it comes to the films… it’s not friggin' Rocket Science!

DC Comics have undeniably the most important hero’s, Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman and they seem to mess it up every time. In my opinion they had the best interpretations on screen with BatFleck, Cavill and Gadot and yet DC and their really stupid Executives and Directors still have no idea how to work with them and keep them in the public eye without messing it up. WBD... Stop listening to minorities or disgruntled fan bases and just stick to your own long term plans!

Even with all the original idiot execs gone, Warner Bros. Discovery still seem to be failing! Thank God people like Ann Sarnoff who became the chairwoman and CEO of Warner Bros. in the summer of 2019 have gone. She was supposed to be held in high regard and yet succeeded in alienating a large chunk of the DC Film base in 'one foul swoop' by putting it in writing the day after Zack Snyder's Justice League was released on HBO Max that she was backing up Walter Harmada the then president of DC Films, calling anything Zac Snyder related a 'cul-de-sac' and would not be going any further with anything within the 'SnyderVerse'. I bet Ann will live to regret those words!

WHY oh WHY as a CEO of a huge organisation like Warner Bros would you want to single out and basically tell a huge portion of your fan base who pays to see these films, "you are NOT going to get any more of what you like or want"... why didn't she use a portion of her highly paid brain and either just avoid any questions relating to the SnyderVerse... like an infuriating politician who never answers direct questions or why didn't Warner have some kind of clever PR reply she could have referred to that could have been rolled out to appease and basically keep all the fan bases happy without actually saying "you're NOT getting this what-so-ever but you'll get what we want you to have" ie all the crap WB have been putting out recently.

I was more than happy if not a little interested to see how the new CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery, David Zaslav would fair and handle things regarding the DC fan base and so far I think he's done no better.

Mr. Zaslav... i'd like to say... please stop trying to copy Marvel, it’s embarrassing!

You are now the CEO of the Original Warner Bros.... you know, the company famous for all those awesome films like The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, BATMAN 89, Christopher Reeve Superman films, The Goonies, The Lost Boys, The Harry Potter films, The Dark Knight trilogy and on and on and on.... Warner didn't copy anyone else when these films where introduced or thought of, well as far as I know they didn't! So find someone who knows what they are doing in your industry and take their advise and follow your own path. Make your own way, The WBD way of working with these awesome characters and STOP trying to please everyone, as that is an impossible task.

Find good people to write good stories and believe in your own brand! Make Warner Bros. Discovery mean something and NOT a MARVEL rip off when it comes to the characters of DC Films.

Most importantly, for the love of God …. If you don’t want to bring back the SnyderVerse then don’t!

Just keep the actors who are playing these characters as they are by far the best ones, come up with a new storyline and every now and then simply make a few references to the past… it's really NOT rocket science.

You can retain a small yet important link to the past films, there by keeping a connected universe but you can still move forward with new material… it really is that simple! But here's the most important part.... keep the fans informed... tell us the plan... and most importantly, stick to it! You don't have to give everything away... you can always add to the plan or correct a few things here and there by keeping your ear to the ground when needs be... but DON"T get scared by the keyboard warriors and loose sight of your overall direction and then change everything again.

Don’t keep the fans in the dark.. that’s where you go wrong. Believe it or not, whether you like it or not, the fan base for these characters is important to keep the interest for these IP's relevant... it's the fan base that keeps up the chat and talk that motivates the general public to go and see these films.

Whilst I'm on a frustrated rant I would like to say to each and every DC Fan....

Everyone seems to forget that the comics we read or have read in the past have a story arc and that story arc can last anywhere up to 12 months or more and we don’t get to know everything until the story arc is complete. Well, believe it or not it's the same for the films… it’s a friggin' story arc!

So.... if the interpretation of your favourite hero or any other character is not what you wanted in a film... don’t friggin' cry like a God Damn baby as he or she will probably be exactly what you wanted by the 3rd or 4th film or whatever.. that’s the whole point of a story arc!

Rant over!
