Did your Worlds Collide?

For a movie that has been in development hell since 2014 I think the majority of people had come to the conclusion that this movie would never see the light of day and with the cancellation of BATGIRL and all the controversy surrounding Ezra Miller I'm sure we all thought The Flash would follow suit.

How wrong could we be!

Amongst all the odds The Flash has finally come to fruition and is now in our cinemas and by all accounts it looks like the film could also be in our digital libraries sooner than we thought.... due to the movie being a complete 'FLOP'!

So... what did I think of The Flash movie... I loved it!

Yes the movie has it's problems and it's certainly not the "Best superhero movie of all time" but I suppose it all depends on what you personally want from a movie and THAT is the 'million dollar question' especially when people are talking about a 'Comic Book Movie' as there are so many different views of what a superhero movie should or should not follow or indeed include particularly where the 'fans' are concerned.

When I go to the cinema, it's all about being entertained for two or three hours. I want to loose myself in the movie and forget about everything else that's going on around me in my everyday life. For instance if it's a Sci-Fi Movie, I want to loose myself in the world that's been created or if it's something like a murder mystery then I want to get into the story and try and follow the plot... you get the idea!

I'm very much a traditionalist where my Superhero's are concerned and considering I started reading and collecting Marvel & DC Comics way back in the 70's, I can be super critical where Comic Book movies are concerned.

The FLASH Movie was probably not the film I would have ideally wanted to see as WBD have highjacked the original 'Flashpoint' story to basically reset their floundering DC Universe, say good bye to the current heroes from the Zack Snyder characterisations before Warner Bros. Discovery usher in the James Gunn versions.

Even though it wasn't what I would have liked to have seen on the big screen, I'll say again... I thoroughly enjoyed the whole film. I usually judge whether I've enjoyed watching a film by how much I sit on the edge of my seat and well, just like when I saw the first Avengers film... I was on the edge of my seat a fair few times just because I was really in to the sheer enjoyment of some of the scenes.

Taking away all the problems that are currently surrounding Ezra Miller, I have to say I think he nailed playing Barry Allen in every way. I wasn't that enthralled when Ezra was originally cast as Barry but I've grown to like him more and more every time he's appeared. I've really enjoyed him being the comic relief in the past films and now in his own film he's taken that comic thread to a completely different level and totally carries the film perfectly. Not to mention, having to play opposite yourself, that in itself was a masterpiece!

When the first images were leaked of the new Flash suit I was not impressed and even though I didn't like the original suit, I did think to myself 'Oh why didn't they use the original one as it was actually far superior' but have to say, it looks great in the film, except for the oversized helmet like cowl.... that is defiantly the worst part and why the hell the costume designers didn't take their lead from the cowl that the CW Flash was using I will never know..... but then again we are talking about Warner Bros. Discovery here who have literally proved over and over again that they have no idea what they are doing.

The film kicks off and more or less goes straight in to a massive action scene showing off The Flash's powers saving various people from a collapsing building and woven in to the scene we see Batman again, played by Ben Affleck and 'Oh Dear' this is where we are first shown the absolutely awful special effects. We see Batman on his BatBike with a half finished CGI'd cape and cowl with the bottom part of Ben Affleck's face floating on the cowl. It's basically Henry Cavil's 'Moustachegate' again! Didn't WB learn from Justice League's 'Moustachegate' and it's this exact thing that makes me think that WBD basically said 'we're NOT spending anymore money on this film, just let it go as it is".... just like they obviously did with 'Jostice League'! The awful CGI then carries on to the Flash sequence with the collapsing building, my word it's literally so bad it's almost unbearable to watch... BUT I will say that if you can ignore the terrible CGI then the actual sequence is awesome and really enjoyable.

I was so disappointed to see Ben Afflecks last time on screen to be soooooooo bad and gawd I hated the Wonder Woman appearance with the same old 'Lasso of Truth' trick, I just thought it was a complete 'finger in the air' from WBD to Ben's last appearance as Batman.... and then after about an hour or so we finally get to see the return of Michael Keaton!

His introduction is handled pretty good, loved the nods to the Flash's introduction from Justice League and the nods to the original Batman 1989 film, seeing the '89 Batmobile again was just awesome, but why or why didn't we get to see it in use again, that was a complete waste. Michael Keaton was always my favourite Batman until I saw Ben Affleck on screen and it was great to see him back in the role again. Lastly we get introduced to Sasha Calle as Supergirl and I have to say, she was AWESOME. Loved everything about her, thought she was a complete badass and she looked so good in the costume. I was really, really pleased the costume was a massive nod to Henry Cavill's Superman.

I could go on and on and explain what I thought of every other part of the film including the 'speed force' but I'd be here all night so I'll leave that for you to go and watch the film for yourself and make your decisions of whether you like it or not.

Overall I thoroughly enjoyed this film as I was able to loose myself for two and a half hours and never once got board at any point, exactly the same as I did with the Black Adam film, but I would have loved to have seen what the original idea and plot for this film would have been like and I would have 100% defiantly preferred to have seen Henry Cavill in this film which I believe was the original ending that Gunn took out and demanded to be reshot at least two times.

Have to say though, I'm one of these fans that much preferred the more adult direction that Zack Snyder took with his films, but don't get me wrong there was also a few problems I had with Zacks films... but I thoroughly enjoyed the comedy vibe in this film... I just hope that James Gunn does NOT do the same with the new direction Gunn will take with his new iteration of his DC Universe.

But, hey… this is just my own personal opinion!
